Organizational Program and Project Management Capability Specialist
Paul’s forte is helping organizations define and sustain what is necessary to be effective with their various programs and projects. He facilitates determining local needs, reaching consensus on appropriate actions, and tracking performance improvement.

PM Capability Improvement with Integrated Product Development (IPD). Paul coached the infusion of tailored project management practices as a core competency supporting this Fortune 20 company’s manufacturing division in its implementation of IPD. Over 20 months, he facilitated new methods and techniques with executives, senior functional managers, re-engineering teams, product managers, project managers, and product development teams. The work significantly reduced development time to market through better collaboration across functional areas.

Project/Portfolio Management Capability Improvement. For a regional utility company, Paul helped define direction an enterprise portfolio management approach to business projects, as part of improving the overall capability of the company to handle programs and projects. This multi-year change initiative included establishing new roles and responsibilities – PMO/COE, company standards based upon good practices, project management communities of practice, internal certification, leadership development, and coaching. As a result, the client is better able to identify, manage, and deliver benefits to customers and shareholders within the dynamic context of the regulated business.

PM Benchmark Assessments and Planning Value. With more than 15 major to his credit, Paul has been conducting benchmarking assessments recently for a major financial institution, a utility company, the global IT unit of a pharmaceutical company, and the R&D unit of a major global automotive supplier. In these cases, improvement roadmaps were prepared. Through these engagements, he enabled clients to carry out changes necessary to improve performance of portfolios, programs, and projects.

A Leader in the Program and Project Management Community. An appointed representative to the PMI Standards Program Member Advisory Group and Standards Consensus Body. Recipient of PMI’s Distinguished Contribution Award, 2006; Co-Program Manager for PMI’s first Program and Portfolio Management Standards; PMI Leadership Institute graduate. Formerly, director of project development for an environmental services company before launching consultancy services in 1986.
