Catalyst offers a number of customized briefings and guided workshops for executives. We generally limit the duration of these workshops to 1/2 day to fit into the busy schedules of senior management, and then arrange for follow up support with individual managers and staff to select the strategies that provide the best leverage in the client organization. Here are four offerings that can help executives align the organization to accomplish strategic goals:
Executives are the architects of organizational capability. This facilitated workshop provides a forum for considering if project management discipline should be a core organizational competency, exploring whether your firm is "there," and determining your key leverage points for leadership. Briefing #2 - Creating Effective Executive Sponsorship A key to successful project execution is good sponsorship of programs and projects. This session will help executives (and project practitioners) understand the proper role of a program sponsor and avoid the predictable pitfalls. Briefing #3 - Creating Project & Program Offices This briefing overviews the organization and operation of the project/program office. Because there is no "standard" for a project office, the briefing focuses on helping executives evaluate the pro's and con's of each potential design. Briefing #4 - New Product Development Excellence In this briefing, we discuss the principles and practices of world-class organizations in new product development. We look at speed, portfolios, pipelines, cross-functional teaming, the fuzzy front end, metrics, technology and other topics. Facilitators - The facilitators are Catalyst's principals, Greg Githens and Paul Shaltry. Both have considerable experience presenting to and working with senior management. Approach to Tailoring a Session - We work with our clients to diagnose organizational performance problems and develop programs that meet the real needs of the business. We look at all aspects of the business to determine what knowledge and skills are needed, and how to apply them for measurable improvements in the business. The typical format is a blend of presentation, discussion, and self-assessment. The presentations includes examples, specific data, metrics, references, models, and exchange opportunities.
